The 25th Annual Punta Gorda Frontier Days had a great turn out. On Friday there were over 700 elementary school students from six county elementary schools came. Saturday the event was opened to all and was well attended. Larry Clark demonstrated flint & steel fire building. Jean Knight demonstrated jute* weaving a Possible Bag, and Jim Whatley demonstrated and gave information about the fur trade, pelts, and traps.
*Jute is the name of the plant or fiber used to make burlap, and other fibrous cloth.
