Lake Alfred Heritage Day

Michelle Stefani

On Saturday, February 26, 2022, many Florida Frontiersmen came together to demonstrate at the 3rd Annual Lake Alfred Heritage Festival. Seasoned FF members and new members spent the day together demonstrating, engaging with visitors, and fellowshipping with one another. As newer members, myself and Nicole Mills and our children, learned how important these local living history events are and how they impact the community and us individually! We all love Rendezvous, however, as Michele Noto explained, “the experience at these small events offers something special.”  I witnessed my son fully engaged at Hank’s Blacksmithing demonstration and later expressing an interest in blacksmithing! I witnessed my youngest daughter asking to learn how to make brooms as she sat with Stephanie Nevada. My oldest daughter played guitar alongside Tamara Beisler and Sarah Mills learned to hand spin wool at the tutelage of Michelle Begue. We also enjoyed presentations from the Buffalo Soldiers, a reading of the Gettysburg Address and the Emancipation Proclamation. A good day was had by all.
