Become a Member
Below you fill find the benefits of becoming a member of the Florida Frontiersmen as well as the steps to making that a reality. The requirements will guide you through doing a number of activities that are expected of our members. You will get to know members of the club, attend meetings, volunteer in our monthly shoots, and participate in the property maintenance workdays. The process can be completed in as few as three months and must be completed within one year of registering.

Monthly competitions - Each month the club holds various range competitions including: muzzle loading, archery, and hawk & knife. You will have the opportunity to compete in monthly, quarterly, and yearly prized and awards as well as an annual gun drawing for monthly shoot competitors.
Seminars - Each month we have a seminar that cover a variety of topics which can include various historical arts, history subjects, range safety, and wildlife.
Usage of over 300 acres gated property for camping, hiking, range shooting, and wildlife watching
Reduced rates and early setup privileges for the Alafia River Rendezvous subject to meeting yearly volunteering requirements.
As a full Club member, you will:
Receive a Family membership - Membership is on a per-family basis so your membership covers you, your spouse, and your children under 18 years old.
Receive a monthly newsletter - Each month, a newsletter is sent out covering news, meeting notes, birthdays and other special occasions, and prayer requests from our members.
Have voting privileges - Each year we elect officers to run the club as well as occasionally vote on other things such as changes to the Constitution or Bylaws. As a member you have the opportunity to participate in those votes.
Become a member of the FFI Facebook Page - Our Facebook group serves as an ongoing way to connect with the rest of the club throughout the month.
Steps to Becoming a Member
Find a sponsor - Many prospective members already have family members or friends who are club members that can serve as their sponsor and mentor. If that isn’t the case for you, that is perfectly fine. Just come to one of our month meetings and introduce yourself to any member. Tell them that you are interested in becoming a member and that you need a sponsor to help you to become a Florida Frontiersmen member. It is important that you work with your Florida Frontiersmen mentor. Your mentor will help lead you on your journey to becoming a Florida Frontiersmen.
Register as a prospective member - Find the club registrar or secretary before a meeting and submit an application to become prospective member. You will be required to pay a small application fee and will then be given a Prospective Members Requirement List Card that must be filled out before you can become a full member. You will have one year from the date you register to complete the requirements. You may be asked to introduce yourself during the member meeting.
Attend two member meetings - To become a member you must attend at least two meetings not counting the meeting at which you submitted your application. Have your process card signed by on of the club officers after each meeting.
Serve as a volunteer at the range - Volunteering with the Chief Range Officer or representative for two shifts at one or more of our monthly meetings. Ideally, one shift will be spent scoring targets in our range house, and the other will be spend as a Range Safety Officer. However, if you are uncomfortable around guns you may do two scoring sessions instead. Each session lasts two hours. Through your training you will shadow a more experienced member. Have your card signed off after each session by the Chief Range Officer or representative.
Participate in a property workday - Attend at least one property improvement workday. We have workdays throughout the year, but the last Saturday of each month is a designated work day. Come out sign in at the maintenance barn. Someone will help you find a job to help with in maintaining our 323 acres of land and outbuildings. After attending your workday, have your card signed by the Property Manager or representative.
Attend a range safety class - Attending a Range Safety class (held occasionally throughout the year during our monthly seminar or on an as-needed basis) you will gain an understanding of the workings and safety of muzzleloading guns, and our black powder ranges. Muzzleloading shooting safety is very important. Though you may not shoot, you will also gain a better understanding of the pre-1840 time period and America’s history. After attending the Range Safety Course have your card signed by the Range Safety instructor.
Complete the registration - Once you have met all of the requirements above and completely filled out your Prospective Members Requirement Card, submit it to the club registrar along with your membership fee. You will then become a full member of the Florida Frontiersmen and will be announced in the club meeting.
