WHAT'S NEW? We have recieved sad news from Ava Francesca the her father, Emanuel Sussman, has passed away. He was with her at the Alafia this year. Some of you may have met him. He went peacefully in his sleep on the morning of June 26th, 2010. Born in London, England, Mr. Sussman emigrated to the United States with his family from London England. He served in England’s Royal Air Force (RAF) during WW 2 and was at the forefront in developing new RADAR technology for the war effort. After coming to the United States he earned his Master’s Degrees in electrical engineering and went on to a successful career in the development and marketing of emerging new technologies including solid-state and transistor electronics in the 1950s and 1960s, to silicon chips and microprocessors in later years. Here is an exerpt from her e-mail: We are having a Memorial Gathering on Sunday, August 22nd from 1-3 in the afternoon in Northern NJ. It will be held at Temple Sharey Tefilo, 432 Scotland Rd, South Orange, NJ. It is the weekend before what would have been his 89th birthday. Sometime on that Sunday afternoon, please find 'a nice spot', kick back, and have a cup of tea.
You can even lift your cup with a smile and wish him Safe Passage and anything else you want to add. I know he'll be around that day because we'll be talking about him - and I'm sure he'll hear you as he passes by. It's a way of being with us if you can't be with us, and I think it will be really grand to have 100's of people all over the country, and some in England, sending their thoughts his way. (Call him 'E.B.', call him 'Manny', he answered to either...) Rather than ask for donations to be sent somewhere specific, our family just asks that you do something nice for somebody in Dad's memory. Thank You. I have published more of the Alafia 2010 photos.
