WEAVING

Alafia Triangle Shawls

A Wholesome Activity

(Not to be confused with the type of activity seen late at night while navigating between lodges)

Carol Leigh's Specialties offers classes on Triangle Shawl Weaving each year at the Alafia. I personally have never experienced the thrill and pride of creating my own woven shawl, but many of the fine ladies attending the Alafia have! Here are just a few!

Carol Leigh's shop at the Alafia.

Basically (to quote a nameless Fl Frontiersmen) you weave your shawl on a triangular shaped frame. As you see these women doing.

You purchase your wool yarn  from Carol Leigh's and I think you pay a fee to use the frame and the instruction is included.

Look at all these beautiful colors these ladies have chosen.

Come watch me make my Triangle Shawl.

First you have to get your frame strung correctly.

Ooppps you caught me taking a break!

It takes a while to get it done, but it's worth it.

Sometimes after standing up weaving all day

I have to give my feet a good soaking.

It's getting there.

Almost done. Soon I will be snuggled up in my warm new shawl!

I highly recommend this wholesome craft! Try it you'll like it!

The names of the ladies shown on this page have not been disclosed to protect them from the constant hounding of the poperotzy.
